01 - 4 slices Italian bread or sourdough

02 - 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
03 - 12 to 16 slices pepperoni
→ Sauce
04 - 1/4 cup marinara sauce, plus extra for dipping

05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
# How-To:
01 - Lay out the bread slices and spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice.
02 - Place 2 slices of bread butter side down on a clean surface, then spread 1 to 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce on the unbuttered side of each slice.
03 - Evenly layer mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by pepperoni slices on each prepared bread slice.
04 - Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter side up, forming two sandwiches.
